The TGA framework
Therapeutic goods are regulated under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. Goods used for therapeutic purposes generally need to be entered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) before they can be supplied for human use.

Many peptide-class substances are scheduled. Some are restricted to prescription supply; some have stricter controls again.
Research compounds
Compounds labelled for research use are not authorised for human consumption. Importing or supplying them for human use is generally not lawful.
