What Does 'Research Use Only' Mean?

The legal and practical meaning of the 'research use only' label that appears on most peptide vials.

Last updated: 5 April 2026

What the label communicates

'Research use only' indicates that the supplier is not selling the compound as a therapeutic good. The label sets expectations: the compound is not approved for human consumption and the supplier is not making medical claims.

What it doesn't mean

It doesn't mean the compound is independently safety-tested in humans. It doesn't mean a regulator has reviewed it. It doesn't carry any guarantee about quality.
