Peptides for Longevity Research

Longevity research examines peptides being studied for their potential effects on aging processes, cellular senescence, and healthspan extension. This page reviews current scientific literature on peptide candidates for aging biology and longevity research.

What the research covers

Longevity research investigates peptides targeting aging hallmarks: cellular senescence, telomere maintenance, proteostasis, and inflammaging. Epitalon is studied for telomerase upregulation and senescence suppression. Thymosin alpha-1 is examined for immune senescence reversal. MOTS-c is investigated for metabolic healthspan. GHK-cu is explored for general tissue vitality and regeneration.

Where the evidence is strongest

Epitalon animal studies show lifespan extension and telomerase activation in cultured human cells. Thymosin alpha-1 research documents immune cell activation and improved immune function in aged populations. MOTS-c demonstrates metabolic improvements relevant to healthspan. GHK-cu shows tissue-regenerative activity across multiple tissue types.

Limits of the current literature

No human longevity trials have directly measured lifespan; most data derive from animal models or cell cultures. Long-term safety in humans is not established. Epitalon human data are sparse and limited to small trials. Translational validity from animal aging models to human longevity remains uncertain.

Regulatory and access considerations (Australia)

Longevity peptides are not ARTG-approved for anti-aging or lifespan extension. Epitalon in particular carries regulatory uncertainty due to limited human data. Research-grade supply is legal for institutional research; personal longevity use is not a TGA-approved pathway. Claims of life-extension warrant regulatory scrutiny.

FAQs

No human lifespan studies exist. Animal models show lifespan extension and telomerase activation; cultured human cells show telomerase upregulation. However, human longevity effects remain entirely unproven, and long-term safety is not established.
